Why athlete development is harder than ever

Young athletes face more pressure, more distractions and higher expectations than ever before. Yet many of the most important parts of development happen away from the training ground.

Coaches and staff know these areas matter, but delivering consistent education and support across mindset, wellbeing, nutrition and athlete lifestyle takes time few programmes have.

FAQs

1. What exactly does The Athlete Place offer our athletes?

The Athlete Place delivers expert, athlete and performance-related content across key areas such as mindset, dealing with disappointment, nutrition, sleep, and balancing school with sport, as well as topics young athletes often find difficult to talk about or seek help for, like mental health and safeguarding. By approaching these subjects in a relatable, athlete-centred way and featuring sport role models, the platform gives pupils access to the support they need now, along with knowledge that will benefit them far beyond their sport and into adult life.

It provides a valuable addition to your school’s existing sport and pastoral support.

2. How easily can this be implemented within our school?

Very easily. The platform is browser-based, quick to set up, and access is managed via pupil or school codes.

While not currently a National Curriculum resource, The Athlete Place is designed to complement your existing provision. Schools can use it flexibly during PE lessons, personal development hours, tutor time, extra-curricular sessions, or as independent study - especially for sport scholars or aspiring athletes.

Students access the platform independently, meaning no extra work for staff, and we provide full onboarding to make rollout effortless.

3. Is the content appropriate for pupils of different ages and sporting levels?

Absolutely. While the platform features elite athletes, The Athlete Place was designed to support all young athletes, not just those on performance pathways. One of our core beliefs is that expert guidance shouldn’t be limited to a select few. Every aspiring athlete deserves access to the kind of guidance that helps them thrive both in sport and in life.

To ensure content feels relevant, we offer two tailored platforms: one for ages up to 18yrs, and the other for 18+. Each is designed to resonate with its specific audience and meet them where they are on their sporting journey.

4. How does this align with our safeguarding and pupil welfare priorities?

The Athlete Place directly supports your school’s safeguarding and pupil welfare priorities through dedicated modules on Athlete Mental Health and Safeguarding. These include topics that align with the preventative, awareness-based approach promoted in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), such as recognising when you're struggling, how to support others, and understanding what constitutes a safeguarding concern — all delivered in a way that’s discreetly accessible, relatable, and athlete-specific.

We know many young people, especially in sport, are reluctant to speak up. That’s why we’ve designed the platform as a self-accessed, safe space, empowering pupils to seek support, build awareness, and better protect themselves and others.

5. What is the cost, and what does it include?

Licences are flexible and based on student numbers and your institution's needs. All plans include full access to our platform's content, worksheets, usage data, and staff resources.

Multi-year discounts are available. Contact us to explore options or arrange a demo.
